VCC, North Star

Scroll

VCC stands out as a project where leadership and execution had to work hand in hand. As part of the team, I played a significant role in coordinating and delivering intricate architectural elements, including ceilings, atrium-related features, and other highly finished components that demanded precision, sequencing, and close collaboration across trades. My involvement extended beyond construction alone; it was also about helping maintain the quality, organization, and attention to detail needed to carry the design intent through to completion.

What continues to resonate with me about VCC is the way ambitious architecture depends on collective effort. I was proud to contribute to a team environment where craftsmanship, coordination, and accountability were all essential to achieving the final result.

VCC remains a North Star example of system-based civic design. Conceived by KPMB as a LEED Gold civic campus rather than a single monumental building, Vaughan City Hall is organized as a series of low-rise volumes, public open space, and interconnected atria aligned to the logic of Ontario’s north-south concession grid. Daylight, fresh air, circulation, glazing, and materiality work together as a coordinated framework, giving the project a sense of openness and permanence. It is a reminder that the strongest public buildings are not just composed, they are orchestrated.
